Your most carbon-intensive cost centre.

Per euro, claims management carries a carbon intensity roughly 3 times higher than investments. Precision measurement and data-driven management make all the difference.

Database

An exceptionally precise parts nomenclature.

Our proprietary database references each part with its weight, dimensions, materials and additives :

800 000+

parts referenced

≈ 2 000

per vehicle

270+

materials

45+

brands

430+

European models

≈ 80 %

of French market

For the remaining 20 %, a machine learning algorithm extrapolates data from vehicle weights and the most common materials. An automatic matching tool also maps the part descriptions in your database to ours.

Climate data sources

Base Empreinte® by ADEME (merger of Base Carbone® and Base IMPACTS®), Ecoinvent, French energy mix, Opendatasoft and the European Environment Agency, with LCA implementation in collaboration with our partner laboratory.

Coverage

A complete scope, cradle to grave.

CarbonCar covers all emission items of a claim, across four scopes (including Scope 4 for avoided emissions):

New parts

raw material extraction, transport and manufacturing

Reused parts (PRE)

emissions avoided compared with new parts

Bodywork & paint

products, varnishes and consumables (in partnership with CESVI France)

Repair

labour times (T1–T3, M1–M3, P) and quantified consumables

Expert & client travel

routes calculated via an internal routing engine, European coverage

End of life

recycling of damaged parts, with depreciation

Administrative management

premises, virtual machines, servers and e-mails

The whole framework is anchored to international standards: GHG Protocol, PEF method with CO₂ equivalent and 15 other impact indicators; avoided emissions following the Net Zero Initiative.

Dashboard

Your performance indicators.

A consolidated dashboard continuously displays key indicators:

Total tCO₂e emissions

and average emission per claim

Total avoided emissions

broken down between repairs and reused parts

Circularity rate

and parts identification rate

Claims processed

total number of claims in scope

Impact breakdown

item by item, scope by scope

Value for the insurer

Four value drivers for the insurer.

01

Network performance management

CO₂e becomes a tracking indicator for your providers: experts, repairers, ELV centres. Compare average emissions and gains per repairer, group, brand or region, track the % of reused and repaired parts, and steer your volumes towards the best performers.

02

Claims cost reduction

By promoting the circular economy (reused parts) and remote expertise, CarbonCar directly links environmental performance with claims cost management.

03

Data engagement

A clear, shareable claim-level emission figure, displayed to the policyholder: a lever for transparency and engagement.

04

Non-financial reporting

Reliable, traceable and auditable Scope 3 data for your CSRD obligations and decarbonisation trajectory monitoring.

Cybersecurity

Your data, protected at every level.

The software suite underwent two penetration tests in 2025 by Advens, a European cybersecurity leader, and a roadmap aligned with the ANSSI hygiene guide. All identified vulnerabilities have been fully remediated. ISO 27001 certification is planned for end of 2026.

Frequently asked questions

Because it is a material Scope 3 item for insurers — high carbon intensity, long overlooked. Measuring it enables management, reduction, and compliance with non-financial reporting obligations.
